Mohali: Season 6 of Asia’s largest Solar Electric Vehicle Championship begins in Chandigarh University on Thursday. In this, college students from across the country have come up with their own created solar car. The five-day Solar-electric cars include NIT Patna, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Jalandhar, Villar Institute of Engineering, Sasatra University Tamilnadu, SRM Institute Chennai, Kaziranga University Assam, Dayal Bagh University, Agra and many well-known college students.
Energy Minister Punjab Gurpreet Singh Kangad said that the use of solar energy in view of the rising pollution and ending gasoline and coal storage is now the demand of the time. Therefore, people from this type of competition and championship will be aware of solar cars. At the same time, Chandigarh University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said that the University is constantly encouraging the students to do research in that direction keeping in view the techniques and needs of the future.
At the same time, the students who came in the championship told that once the full battery charge is being charged in solar cars, it can run up to 140 km. The solar car is fully environmentally friendly. Two thousand contestants of 51 teams are joining the championship.
